Whaaa?

Today, a member of my committee walked into the lab and said, "People with kids, I have something for you." And proceeded to hand out bottles of honey to said people. Then, he turned to me, and said: "You want honey, you get yourself some children."

"You want honey, you get yourself some children."

Doesn't that usually go the other way round?

Seriously though - WTF??!! Did you manage to say anything back, or just stand there open-mouthed (like I would've done?) Did anyone else say anything??!!

Some people are just plain weird.

I was lost for words alright, and so were the others. I still can't think what an appropriate response could have been, but the statement was well-meaning, so I think it is ok.

Wow! I think I'd just about keeled over from surprise. That's just odd.

(This has nothing to do with your post, but the word verification is product. I thought that was strange.)

I am sure my facial expression was priceless. Where's the camera when you need one :)

It was his subtle way of asking you out, obviously . It's totally the first topic in Nerd Flirtation101, 'if he refuses to give you honey without your having babies first it's true love.'

This is really strange. Was it "give honey to people with children day" at your school?

ScientistMother and Jennie - I know he likes kids but doesn't have any of his own, so I think he is just doing the Santa thing (the new semester started yesterday, so everybody is sure to be around).

Hermitage - LOL! I can reassure you that you are way off!
