This sounds familiar

I get overextended at work -> I start working more -> I start sleeping less -> I start eating worse -> I stop working out -> I get very stressed out -> I become less productive -> I get even more overextended.

You would think I would learn by now!!!

Resolution: I am going to wrap up what I am working on within an hour*, get a good night of sleep, and run in the morning.

* Too bad the task is really a full day worth of work...

I hope you made it for that run. I have the same problem with the never-ending cycle. It seems that I never learn.

I agree, we all need to take time for ourselves or else the cycle is vicious-which I why I still have 20 lbs to loose. Hope you had a nice run.

Sounds like a familiar and nefarious enemy. I have solved this problem by finding activity buddies who beat me into submission when I'm like 'ooh but if Istay until 2am I can run 1 more experiment that won't work!'

Amanda - I did go for a run, and although it was rough (I really need to stop skipping my runs!), I felt much better afterward.

PD - Thanks! The task didn't get finished that night, but getting some sleep made it go faster the next day.

Quiet - thanks, it did help!

SM - you are such a mom ;) I honestly do not remember ever finishing work at 5pm...

Jennie - occasionally I do better on breaking the cycle. And then things tumble again... Good luck with making time for yourself, too!

Hermitage - an external control mechanism to override the crazy "if I work 2 more hours, I might get it completed"? Genius!
