Bubble wrap that

I think we are getting close to being packed. This is my first time moving with furniture (except one cross-town move with 1/4 of the furniture), which is a lot more "fun" than just packing in one's car. I sure hope the next time I have to move we can pay somebody a bit bigger than myself to lug around couches (I can sort of carry a couch, but picking it up over my head is simply not gonna happen...).

On another note, this is officially an end of an era. The previous era, that is: I have put in the to-donate pile the steel toe Docs I lived in as a teenager. I couldn't bring myself to part with them when moving to grad school, but I think it is time. Good bye, boots, and thanks for the comfort you brought me when the world seemed hostile and unsafe.

I finally gave away one of my favorite Tshirts from high school. Dr. Man couldn't understand why it was so difficult for me to give it away.

I just gave up my 3 pairs of Docs! And oooo it hurts. One blue pair, one red pair, and one black pair - each more than 10 years old.

I always wanted docs but never felt like spending the money-what shoe size are you :)

Also, I'm totally confused. Are you moving out of your home at grad school and moving closer to me? for good? have you graduated and I didn't notice. I should go back and read over your posts.

Amanda - Hubby understood, but gently encouraged my "I haven't worn them in 5 years!" thought process. Must. not. change. my. mind.

JanusProf - it is painful! At 10+ years old, they still have so much life in them!

Jennie - I am a 6.5, but had to go up to size 4UK in Docs, which feels huge to me - at least size 7, but I am really not sure. Oh, and sorry for the confusion - I really should post more about it here; no, not graduating, but moving to finish grad school in the other (wink ;) location.

I still have my docs but never wear them. Sometimes I think I should donate everything I left in PHD Town since I don't wear it on a regular basis...

wow, tiny feet!

It's so sad to say goodbye to a good pair of docs...

Our last move was relatively easy as the only furniture we took with us were the TV stand and a small coffee table. The next one will be hell...

Albatross - I hear you! The move sort of twisted my arm, but I imagine if I didn't have to empty the house, it would be tempting to leave some things just in case I use them again.

Cath - my previous move was not so bad, but this one has been long distance, with lots of stuff, on a small budget, and on short notice. I hope I never have those 4 constraints all a once again!
