Amidst all the rapid changes occurring in ScienceGirl household, I think I better fill you in on what all is happening.
For the next few years (until our graduation, really), Hubby and I will be working at a BigLab, which is also the same place we have interned in the past. Our job description is working on our dissertations, and we will still be students at GradSchoolUni. We will be living in the BigLab state, so we are in a process of a full-blown move.
Well, that was short and sweet. Now I am back to my bubble wrap.

Wow! That's exciting and a big change. Good luck with the packing! (That's always the worst part of moving for me.)
That sounds really cool! So the work you do at BigLab counts toward your thesis? Is this common in your field to do part of one's thesis somewhere else?
Anyway, good luck with all the packing and the move. Hope you guys have a great time at BigLab!
Amanda - thanks! I too think this is the worst part, and it is OVER!
MadHatter - yep, they will be paying me to work on my thesis :) It is not very common, but when research interests align, it happens (in my case, the interests aligned before I even knew about BigLab, so it is exciting that it is all working out). So, thanks, and I will have to figure out a way to blog about it!
That's awesome! Does this kind of arrangement kind of help you transition into a full-time position at BigLab if you want one? I'd definitely be interested in hearing about it if you can blog about it!
MadHatter - it's definitely a possibility; more on the subject once things settle bit!
Sounds like a great set-up. I have a similar situation and it works really well. In my case they don't pay me, but they do pay for my research and provide me with way better resources than I'd have at the university.
EGF - I am very excited about the resources they will provide me with as well. I am glad to hear the setup works well for you - I have great hopes it will be a good one for me as well.
