We finally have a (tiny) apartment, although it is completely empty at the moment. Why? Because our stuff is still not here! It was supposed to be here days ago, and now it is delayed by at least a week. Do you think I should tell the moving company that I have hundreds of readers (which I don't, but each of you guys should count for at least a dozen!), and that I will tell everyone how much the company sucks if they don't hurry up and get me my bed NOW, please?
My back hurts, I've been living on frozen food, I am trying to adjust to a new job, and I am living on what fit into a suitcase and into my tiny car. I haven't had a chance to run nearly as much as I normally would, which is adding to feeling stressed and exhausted.
But, our internet got hooked up* today! Now if I could only have my bed back so I can sleep like a normal person, I think I would feel much, much better.

Oh, this sounds very familiar! Not having a bed sucks!
But a week is only a very short time of the rest of your life. It will get there eventually. Now looking back at the first weeks of my postdoc in France I'm asking myself why I stressed so much about everything. I wasted too much energy worrying about shit I couldn't control and too little about what I actually could do something about.
But hey, why do we keep a blog if we can't rant about stuff ;-)?
Sucky! This seems to be a common complaint about movers. I think ScieceWoman wrote about it with her move to Mystery City, actually. I'm pretty sure she said the name of the company, too. ;) But I'd bet they all suck sometimes.
This is a common story and one reason I've never used movers. Grackle and I have been lucky to, thus far, be in situations where we can rent, pack and move everything ourselves.
Glad you found a place!
Yeah, pretty much all movers suck. You'll get your stuff eventually though. :)
HG - thanks for understanding a rant :) I agree that this is a blip in a long run, but was my back aching!
EGF - I didn't think "we are busy" was a good excuse for delaying the delivery for a couple of weeks. I don't know how to hold them accountable, though...
Albatross - we weighed our options, and thought this was the way to go. I am not sure we would make the same decision again.
Rebecca - yep, got our stuff, and even undamaged! Happy about that, now trying to unpack.
