Half marathon, 1,000 kilometers, oh my!

I ran my second official half-marathon this weekend, and even have a medal to prove it! It was a sweet but challenging run with wonderful views, and the weather couldn't have been better. I was quite excited to participate in a major event in one of my favorite cities in the world, and very happy with my time. I think I could get addicted to participating in events like this! (I admit this is a bit of a strange concept; my mom asked me, "You paid to do what?")

I have also crossed the 1,000 kilometer milestone in the weeks coming up to the event. Since it took me about 11 months to run that far, I started wondering if it would be possible for me to run the length of the equator over the lifetime. Although that would require me to remain healthy enough for running well into my 60's (which would be sweet, but I know not everyone gets that lucky). Hmmm. Maybe half the length of the equator would be a more reasonable long-term goal?
