TMI Tuesdays: Lets Waddle in the Snow

The last few weeks have been stressful as I have been scrambling to bring things to a steady state at work, and we have been preparing our home for the little one's arrival. Top it off with the sheer exhaustion that is the last few weeks of pregnancy, and you can draw a picture of yours truly in an increasingly desperate state. Seeing this, Hubby suggested that we needed to go away for a weekend of R&R while we still had a chance.

With the little one on her usual sleep/wake schedule (yep, she's going to have us on her schedule when she comes out, no doubt!), and no drastic changes in how I feel, we decided we could venture out a few hours away from the town for a break. Hubby found a small hotel room within our budget near one of our favorite outdoorsy places, and off we went. The outdoorsy place was nearly empty as we are way off-season, but we have enjoyed our stay very much. We took it easy, just walking around and checking out the sights. For the first time ever, we walked up to an information booth and asked for a list of "the least challenging" trails to check out. With an understanding look on her face, the lady at the info desk obliged and pointed out a bunch of things we normally miss during our visits here as they are overrun by people during the time the weather is better. So we spent the weekend leisurely strolling around, playing a bit in the snow (I had to jerry-rig my snow pants with a belly band, but it worked!), and taking lots of pictures. We enjoyed watching families with small children play in the snow, imagining how it would be to bring the little one here in the future. We wrote the little one's name in the snow and took pictures of her (err, my belly) next to it. We huddled together on a bench, each with a cup of hot chocolate in our hands.

And even though we called this our last pre-kid mini-vacation, that was only partially the case. The little one may not be in our arms yet, but our lives are permeated with thoughts about her, dreams about her, and watching her exponential growth in my belly, complete with all the crazy moves she does and her ability to have her own schedule of activities in there. We are not quite just a couple anymore, and soon, we'll have our little one in our arms to make us an official family.

Sounds like a great weekend!
You have a name already, she's almost there. Wow.
Also, the belly band - snow pants combination is a great idea.

It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. This post brought tears to my eyes as I thought about being pregnant and the moment that I gave birth to my Little T, to myself as a mother, to Mr. T as a father, and finally to our family. Truly amazing.

Amelie - thanks, we were glad to relax. And it is definitely a waiting game now!

Tiger Mom PhD - sounds like a transformational moment; I can't wait. Thanks!

Amanda - yes she is :) I think we are ready for her!

Rebecca - thanks! We decided that the little projects could wait, and that a little quality time and dreaming of our baby was much more important!
