My body hates me

I have been sick for 3 weeks now and not improving - all the usual cold symptoms plus an explosive cough my husband can recognize from a mile away and my one year old imitates ("How does mommy cough?" - "Cough, cough."). I finally have a doctor's appointment tomorrow; hopefully there are some good drugs they can give me. Although I don't need a doctor to tell me that the reason I am not recovering is that I have gotten too run down and don't get nearly enough sleep (sleeping through the night - what's that?); but until they come up with a 'make up for the lack of sleep' pill perhaps I can have some steroids?

Are you the only person you know with this lingering cold? There's something going around here that sounds just like what you have -- so maybe it's not just the lack of sleep. Plenty of people at my workplace have had this nasty cold that lingers on for 3 or more weeks. Anybody you work with been out this way lately?

In any case, get well soon!!!

I just got over the last bout of sickness that spread through the house - took over a month. Just in time for Monkey to get sick and start waking 2-3 times a night again. I'm never going to be healthy again. :|

I was sick for four weeks when I finally got antibiotics for sinus and bronchial infections. I hope your doctor has something that can help whatever ails you.

Could be walking pneumonia -- it's been rampant this winter. Some Doxycycline should do the trick. Get well soon!

What about you mood? it is known that our mood influences our ability to cope with illnesses.

I hope that your doctor can help you. All the best for you!!!

Rebecca - people around here have been sick on and off, but I don't think anyone's cold lasted this long (I am certainly the only one coughing up and down the halls). And my 1 year old luckily got over this very cold in 3 days...

Micro Dr.O - I hear you, its a never ending cycle :( My health seems to have taken a nose dive and I am not sure when/if I will recover to pre-pregnancy levels...

NJS - they gave me some drugs and we are now waiting for test results; hopefully, nothing stronger will be necessary.

GMP - the doc didn't suspect pneumonia but I should know for sure soon; I have had a walking pneumonia as an undergrad and I am pretty sure I am not this sick this time around.

CarlosPC - well, my mood is that of a grad student and a mother of a young child: proportional to the amount of sleep I am getting and progress I am making at work. So not that great, but I am trying think positive :)
