When insurance ensures slowness of care

I've been in quite a bit of pain over the past month+. Enough pain to have scheduled doctor visits and insist on tests. But I am getting the run-around: "We have to do Test 1 before insurance will let us do anything else." "We have to do Test 2 to rule out other problems before we can test the organ that is actually hurting." "Ok, well, now that Test 1 and 2 told us nothing, you can go to the specialist who will talk to you first, then determine appropriate next steps." Between trying to schedule in appointments as soon as possible and waiting for the test results in-between, this has been one painfully slow process. Are they hoping I will give up before making them cover something expensive?

O I had the exact experience. First I had to wait some time to see whether things would change, before they would put me on a waiting list. That took a couple of months. Then I had to have a talk with a specialist before they could do important tests which I know were necessary. Ba Ba Ba and we are now 1,5 years further. It is fortunate I wasn't dealing with cancer, "only" with some fertility issues... Apparently there is no rush to help you there....

Don't give up, and try to squeeze out as many tests-okays in one specialist appointment (if that is possible in your situation), that was what i did, so I could arrange a whole bunch of tests after one visit instead of going one by one.

Sorry you're in pain and can't get what you need. I hope the process speeds up once you see the specialist.
